Markets are making a big comeback and fast becoming a must-do activity for all walks of life. We’re lucky to boast our fair share of fabulous markets right here in Australia. We’ve compiled the ultimate go-to list of the best markets each state offers.

Rozelle Markets
These open-air weekend wonders are well-known. Featuring second-hand, vintage fashion, homewares and food, there’s something for everyone.

Kirribilli Markets
With the harbour bridge arching above, choose from over 220 stellar stalls. Fashion, accessories, home and giftwares, craft, jewellery, plants and fine foods are on offer.

Balmain Markets
Stroll through the grounds of the historic 1853 St Andrews church and find some treasure. Choose from handmade arts and crafts, jewellery, home and giftwares and fashion.

Paddington Markets
Go where the chic go to peruse their way through these markets for some shopping and food fare. Stalls range from clothing, accessories & homewares from local designers.

Brewery Yard Markets Chippendale
For something different, wander around with a backdrop of street art. Head outside to check out the jewellery, crafts, designer clothes and some live entertainment.

Flemington Racecourse Market

Fremantle Markets
These beloved weekend markets are fabulous for fresh fruit and veg. When you’re done plucking your produce, there are stalls, food and buskers to keep you entertained.

Perth Home Grown
This is the market for all things sustainable living; nourishing produce and homemade wares to wow. Local fruit and veg, fresh bread, oils, honey, gifts and more all set to music.

Perth Upmarket
This market happens four times a year and showcases over 150 local artists, designers, craftspeople and gourmets. Potter around for premium original and handmade wares.

Perth Makers Market
South side of the Swan River, you can find the Heathcote Cultural Precinct in Applecross. Here is the home of these handmade markets where everything is custom crafted.

Fast taking the lead in all things artisan, Tassie is a breeding ground for boutique and unique pieces. The flourishing market scene in the southern state boasts some of the coolest and creative original finds along with a sensational setting.

Salamanca Market
This stalwart attraction is a must-see for any visitor or local alike. Beginning near the silos with only 12 stalls in 1972, these markets can now host up to 25,000 treasure hunters.

Tasmania Farm Gate Market

Old Bus Markets
This quirky location lets you bustle around an old bus depot while you hunt for fashion, handcrafted pieces, food and jewellery. Enjoy a wonderful weekend wander.

Canberra City Walk Markets

Valley Markets

Boundary Street Markets

The Finders Keepers Markets
This travelling market spruiks its offering in Brisbane biannually. Put the dates in your diary for premium one-off designer clothing, stationery and jewellery.

A drawcard of the top-end market experiences is choosing your delicious fare from the Mindil Beach Sunset Market as the sun sets over the Arafura Sea. There are also an array of daytime markets to marvel at and meander through.

Mindil Beach Sunset Market
As the sun starts to sink, head to these markets to take in all that the tropics have to offer. Featuring over 300 stalls, there’s a special something for everyone.
When: Thursday, 5 - 10pm and Sunday, 4 - 9pm

Nightcliff Markets
This is the place to pick up the individual item you’ve been thinking about. With everything from crafts, hemp clothes and recycled CDs and books, bag your bargain here.

Parap markets
This local institution offers a diverse range of arts and crafts, but it’s mostly famous for its food. Enjoy street theatre performances and buskers as you hunt for your treasure.

The Rapid Creek Markets
This long-time market has been showcasing its stalls for over 30 years. Selling fresh produce, fabulous fare and snacks, it also boasts bric-a-brac, seafood and arts and crafts.

This very walkable city is the perfect site for some sensational market experiences. Beyond the famous food bazaar in Central Market, there’s no shortage of other market-shopping encounters from all things artisan to vintage goods from yesteryear.

Adelaide Central Market
This is the city’s most visited attraction and Australia’s best market. With more than 80 stalls, cafés and restaurants, there’s never been a bigger assortment of food under one roof.

City East Markets

Gilles Street Market
Come and see what young South Australian designers have to offer. Focused on fashion and accessories, choose from original, vintage and recycled pieces.

Bowerbird Markets
Providing a place for some of the country’s best artists and designers, this market offers an original slant. With over 160 stalls, you can find whatever you fancy.
